London ADR is in partnership with LawWorks to provide free Community Mediation to community groups and other not for profit organisations in the Enfield and Hertfordshire areas.
LawWorks is a nationally recognised charity that does an incredible job in providing free legal help to individuals and community groups who cannot afford to pay for it and who are unable to access legal aid. We are delighted to be associated with the great work they do, which also gives London ADR the opportunity to demonstrate its strong commitment to making a difference in the community.
Through this initiative, London ADR is able to provide independent and highly experienced professional mediators on a pro bono basis, to help resolve disputes that arise internally and those with third parties. We are aware that securing funding in order to provide free services to the community, particularly in a time of continued economic hardship, is always a difficult task. Sponsors are having to cut back financially themselves, which ripples down to the amount of funding community groups get. The last thing a community group or a not-for-profit organisation would want to do after managing to secure some funding, is to use any portion of that funding, however little, to cover the costs of litigation or to manage a protracted dispute with a member of staff, supplier or landlord.
This service will help community groups and not-for-profit organisations in Enfield and Hertfordshire, deal quickly and efficiently with their disputes and allow them to continue to provide a much demanded service to members of the community.
We have received requests from small businesses to expand this initiative to include their disputes, but unfortunately due to logistically cost, we are unable to do so. In addition, the rationale behind this free service for not-for-profit orgainsations is exactly that – they do not make any profits, but businesses do. However, we are able to prove a low-cost mediation service to small businesses, based on their size and income.
Community groups and not-for-profit organisations who wish to use this service will have to qualify following an initial assessment of their income and the nature of the case. For more information, please click here.
